Type of Project: Solar Combined Cycle (ISCC) plant with a capacity of 150 MWe of which 20 MWe are supplied from a solar thermal trough system.
Location: Hassi-R’mel, Algeria
Client: Sonatrach (Algerian State Corporation)
Abengoa and New Energy Algeria (NEAL) will operate the ISCC plant for 25 years. The energy produced will be purchased by Sonatrach (Algerian State Corporation). The plant will be constructed and engineered by Abengoa. The combined cycle plant has a capacity of 150 MWe with 20 MWe being provided by the solar troughs. The area of the solar collectors is 180,000 m2 (1.94 million square ft).
The advantage of an ISCC plant is that the solar field supplies steam to the same turbine that uses steam from the heat recovery steam generator of the gas turbine.
