District Heating: Fort Sam Houston – San Antonio, Texas (RMT)s

This is a Roof Mounted Parabolic Trough (RMT) system consisting of 129 collector modules with a total net aperture area of 4,515 ft2 (420 m2). The collectors are mounted on the flat roof of Building 902 at the base. Using a heat exchanger, the system heats water in a district heating loop to 190° F.The district heating system delivers space heat, cooling reheat and DHW to a number of residential barracks. This system came on line in July 2003. Abengoa Solar designed, manufactured and installed the solar collector system on a turnkey basis under contract to Johnson Control, Inc.Johnson Control, Inc. has the overall Energy Service Performance Contract at the base, which is a major training center for Army medical personnel.
