Domestic Hot Water: Jefferson County Detention Facility - Golden, CO (PT1)

This PT-1 system comprises 6,820 ft2 (633 m²) of parabolic trough solar collectors with a hot water tank of 4,500 gallons (17,000 l) serving the needs of 600 prison inmates and support staff. The system came on line in 1996. This successful design was the basis for the design of the much larger DHW system installed at FCI-Phoenix in 1999.
