Tower

High Temperature Tower Demonstration Plant: 2 MW demonstration plant for overheated steam generation that will substantially improve yields and system costs.

Solgate: Development of the engineering and construction of the receiver and power cycle of a small solar plant of 100 KW of electric power, based on the contribution of solar energy to a gas turbine.

Abengoa Solar NT has been involved on the assembly tasks of the main equipment of this project, such as pressurized solar receiver, gas turbine, electric generator, receiver protection, etc.

The project has been led by DLR, and has counted with the collaboration of Ciemat-PSA, among others. On the last stage of the project, operation tests have been performed, obtaining for the first time in history solar electricity through a Brayton cycle.

This project has counted with the co-funding from the 5th European Union Framework Program. Activities of Solgate Technology are still continuing today, with the presence of Solúcar R&D in the Solhyco Project which intent to obtain the hybridization of the system developed on the Solgate stage with gasified biomass. The Solhyco Project counts with the collaboration of renowned research centers such as DLR and Ciemat, and which has been co-funded under the 6th European Union Framework Program.
